In December 2009, the UN General Assembly amended the UNU Charter to make it possible for UNU to “grant and confer master’s degrees and doctorates, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions under conditions laid down for that purpose in the statues by the Council.”  The UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace will undertake postgraduate degree programmes leading to the granting of master’s and doctorate degrees on themes relevant to UNU-ISP’s focus on sustainability and peace.

As a first step, we are pleased to announce the admission of the first cohort of a Master’s of Science degree programme that will commence their studies on science, development and peace on 13 September 2010 for a period of two years.
