Nearly 40 years have passed since publication of “The Limits to Growth”, the Club of Rome's book which warned of the future of humanity and the Earth. Now, efforts to achieve sustainability are underway in various fields.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Prof. Dennis Meadows, co-author of “The Limits to Growth”, who introduced the idea of sustainability. The lecture will be followed by an open forum, providing an opportunity for the audience to consider the predictions of the book, the current situation of humanity and the Earth, and their future prospects.
The inaugural ceremony of the new UNU-ISP postgraduate programme, the “Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace”, will be held prior to the lecture.
