UNU signs MOU with African Development Bank

The United Nations University (UNU) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate and strengthen collaboration, encourage knowledge exchange and promote research, training and dissemination of information on sustainable development in Africa.

UNU and AfDB will promote and foster collaboration on research and capacity building in higher education in the area of sustainable development in Africa by undertaking the following activities:

  1. Supporting higher education for sustainable development in Africa
  2. Exploring the possibility of establishing a joint pipeline for sustainable development projects
  3. Establishing a joint Africa – Asia strategic plan for sustainable development
  4. Promoting knowledge transfer initiatives

Dr. David Malone, Rector of UNU, and Dr. Donald Kaberuka, President of AfDB signed the MOU on behalf of UNU and AfDB, respectively in Tokyo on 5 June 2013.
